23 May 08 marks a special milestone in our relationship! It is the 999th day since Mic and I are together! So on this special day, I decided to plan something special for Mic!

After work, we went to Ma Masion at Clarke Quay for dinner. Luckily we made reservations beforehand because the queue is unbelivable haha. The ambience of the restaurant is fab, its dimly lighted and decorated in a old western europe style. From our table we can even see Clarke Quay and the river =)

I got Mic a nicely-wrapped sunflower and a card with a sunflower on its cover! She just loves sunflowers haha. But she still cannot get over the fact that I actually bargained with the florist. For your info, the sunflower's original cost is $15 but I got it for $10 haha! Mic insists that no one bargains in Singapore but why would you pay $15 for the flower when u can get it for $10? My training in Bangkok has done me well this time.

Mic was weeping in tears after she had read the card. She didnt believe that I can come up with such poetic phrases lol. Our dinner: Hambuger steak and Omu Rice!

After dinner, we went to PS's Ice Monster for a Mango Ice Cream Dessert. Yummy!

Hopefully you will remember this day. I always will =) ~Stanley~

i have nothing much going on in my life recently..

talking about internship, i have undergone a week of audit training with around 40 plus other interns from NTU, SMU and NUS. the training is quite ok, but next week will be the big test where we finally put what we learn to practical use..

i have only met the other members of my team once on friday.. not exactly sure if i would be able to blend in with them, but i will still try my best.. hope they are all very friendly and helpful ppl..

what did i do for this long weekend? haha.. i went to partyworld with yvonne on saturday, my closest fren from nan hua dance.. she is my twin.. haha.. i had a lot of fun with her.. we can just chat non-stop for hours..

today (sunday) i went to orchard with jasmine, my pri school fren.. =D we went through thick and thin together! that meaning that she has seen my thick and thin figure.. haha.. i have a few things to comment here.. on my way to orchard on the bus 171, there were lots of maids.. their off day i guess.. the bus's engine was exceptionally loud, sounded like it's gonna break down any minute.. to make sure that they are heard, the maids started yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs just behind.. ppl who know me, can you imagine how pissed i am? they are a bunch of crazy shorties with disgusting hair and tight-fitting tops.. the tops show off their tummies (or shld i say, pregnant lookalike stomachs?) rather than their non-existent boobs..

the maids are absolutely disgusting.. they don't realise that they are shouting.. nvm, i alight outside ck tangs only to find more maids loitering around the bus-stop, flooding the whole passageway.. one more point to add, their legs are so short that they take such a freaking long time to alight!! they have no sense of urgency nor consideration for others at all! eew...

i suggested going to paragon.. and going to paragon would mean that i would need to go pass lucky plaza to get there.. oh my god.. what a big mistake i have made!! the stench (i use this word because it describes exactly how the whole building full of maids smell!!) is disgusting.. and the maids together with their construction "boyfriends" are just strolling around, blocking my way! i dun like ppl to block my way. damn it

luckily i din have to take the bus home after that.. my parents came to pick me up and send jasmine home too.. haha.. she saw a top that she really liked at dorothy perkins.. she knew that she would get scolded for buying it but she still can't stop thinkin about it! so we went back to paragon for the second time after shopping at other places.. well, she din buy it in the end coz there was a defect on the last piece and it looks really visible to her.. haha..

stan is in bangkok right now.. i hope he is enjoying himself..

hi ppl!!
i am back from my taiwan trip! hahah.. it was a very fruitful and fun one! haha.. i went from 2nd to 8th may, on SIA flight.. before i forget, we were served a small tub of Haagen Daaz ice cream each when we were coming back from Taipei! when we were going there, i was pretty ill.. had a bad sore throat, blocked nose, and nausea.. damn it right? i almost couldn't board the plane due to my condition.. after seeing a doc at the airport (costs me $84!!) and got an injection for pressing down the nauseous feeling, i finally slept through the whole flight and arrived in taiwan at 5.50pm!!
haha.. we were supposed to sit this "Fei Gou" (Flying Dog) bus service which will send us directly to our hotel in Xi Men Ding.. it was rather okay, considering that i din get bus sick or anything.. we reached the hotel at around 8.15pm, after 100 mins of bus ride.. =D
the hotel only costs us $30+ per person per night.. cheap right? i wasn't really expecting anything fancy so the decor of the room was up to my standard for that kinda price i am paying.. it was quite nice, just a little small.. there is breakfast (which comprises of a sandwich and a packet of drink per person). of coz, you can choose to have a better breakfast (such as a buffet) at some other hotel which would cost $20 more per night i think.. haha..
i have uploaded lots of pictures for your viewing.. haha.. first up are our buys from the trip! fyi, the picture below covers almost the entire king size bed and it's only 85% of our stuff coz at the time we took this picture, we haven finish our shopping! haha..
as you can see, the bed is divided into two parts, the one on the right belongs to me, my total shopping list is as follows:
  1. 4 pairs of shoes (SGD$ 7.50 - $10 each)
  2. 1 pair of slippers (SGD$ 13)
  3. 1 bag (SGD$13)
  4. 5 tees (around SGD$11 each)
  5. 1 pair of jeans (SGD$8 only!!)
  6. 1 skirt (SGD$18)
  7. 2 belts (1 for SGD$2.50, 1 for SGD$5)
  8. 1 scarf (SGD$10)
  9. 5 comic books (less than SGD$5 each)
  10. 1 chinese teapot (SGD$8 - for my mom)
  11. 1 tee (SGD$10 - for my bro)
  12. 1 figurine (SGD$5 - for my dad)
  13. 2 umbrellas (the jap kind, portable, very cute!) (SGD$9 - $13)
  14. some tidbits (fish crackers, winter melon pie)
  15. cup noodles (heard they taste good, gotta try mah!)
  16. some miscellaneous (e.g. hp chains, rings, etc)

the pictures aren't in chronological order.. but anyway, let me introduce the food first.. we tried to take pictures of all that we ate.. haha.. stan did a lot of research on where to go, what to buy/eat before we came.. so i must say, it's a really fab trip, thanks to my darling!! =D

this is the "xian1 yu4 xian1" shop where we ate the yam balls.. it's sth like our ice kachang with ice shavings.. but the condiments are absolutely better! perhaps it's coz i dun like ice kachang? there are many choices.. we ordered this (comprises of yam balls, sweet potato balls, pearls, big sweet nuts and sth like hashima) they are all very chewy and yummy! haha.. it costs only NT$45 (around SGD$2 plus) and it's such a big bowl!!

this is the boston cake we ate at the Taoyuan International Airport before we were about to board the plane.. i have always wanted to try the cakes coz they look absolutely scrumptious.. but the cakes at Xi Men Ding costs at least SGD$5 per slice! so i was berserk when i saw this cake going for only SGD$1.50 per slice! not bad at all.. =D

this picture was taken when we were on the plane back to singapore and stan was sitting next to the window, so he took this picture of sunset.. gorgeous isn't it? haha.. it's my desktop background now..

it took us a long time to find this, Xiao Lin Jian Bing! the first day we walked for almost 2 hours at Zhong Xiao DunHua station and the vicinity to find this, but to no avail.. we tried again another day, only to find out that it's only opposite the big shopping centre! damn! but well, it was great! at first i was afraid that it was going to be some fried pancake or sth.. boy was i wrong! (isn't the packaging cute? 1 portion - 3 pieces at NT$35!)

this is how it looks - very soft and it's full of custard inside! a bit too sweet though.. haha, i can finish it in 3 mouthfuls!

this is how the shop looks like, the staff only told us that we were not allowed to take a picture after stan took it. so well, we have this picture! hahah..

next up is ding tai fung!! we ate all this for breakfast.. not very exp, almost same price as singapore's one.. but the interior decor is disgusting! haha.. it's worse than the crystal jade in singapore, just like a normal HK cafe in HK, without the smoke.. the service's good though.. we ate the fried pork chop.. yummy!

the famous xiao long bao (10 in a one portion) it's absolutely good! unlike the ones we eat in singapore, these just won't burst! even if it sticks to the cloth underneath, it won't break! look at my second picture to see how much soup it has! haha.. we just slurped up the 5 bao each!

this is the red bean cake they have. a bit on the dry side, not exactly my fave eh.. haha

i have to eat something every morning before i set off for our proper breakfast, if not, i will feel very faint and weak.. haha.. guess it's coz we also stone around before setting off to get breakfast.. i have heard that the cup noodles are different from singapore's ones, so i decided to get one to try.. well, this isn't CUP noodles, more of BOWL noodles.. hahaha.. it wasn't bad at all, quite tasty and there are real pieces of chicken and pork in there!!

next up is Shih Lin night market! i know that everyone has been eating the Shihlin chicken chop in Singapore.. well, i won't ever eat the one in Singapore again, after having eaten the authentic one in taipei!! haha.. this is really huge.. and the queue is quite long.. thank god for their efficiency, we got our chicken in just minutes!! haha.. the length of the whole chicken slice is about 25cm! super big eh?

this is another famous snack there, called "Da Bing Bao Xiao Bing" (small biscuit wrapped in big biscuit). they have almost 10 different flavours, either sweet or salty ones.. some flavours include red bean, peanut, black pepper, curry, pork floss and many others! we chose pork floss.. we queued up for quite some time.. one thing good about taiwanese is that they are well-mannered and they queue up dutifully, just like us! haha.. so we were watching the lady wrapped the thing.. it's actually a deep fried biscuit (aka the xiao bing) being smashed into pieces, sprinkled with a generous portion of the filling you chose, lastly wrapped in the kebab skin (aka the da bing).. haha.. not too bad.. i like the kebab skin, very chewy!

this is the famous oyster jian1 that we all have been seeing on TV for so long! haha.. it's just scrambled egg with the oyster lor.. we din choose oyster coz if the oyster isn't fresh, we can get diarrhoea easily, so we opted for squid jian1! in case you haven noticed, the red sauce on the egg is just the "tian bu la" sauce which you will see later.. haha.. btw, our singapore Shihlin also sells the "tian bu la", you guys can try it!

next up at Shihlin night market, we ate the "Guan Cai Ban" (coffin board). it's actually the bread used for French Toast that they deep fried it, cut it open and put different stuffings in it.. hahah.. we chose black pepper beef and it tastes great! the bread is so crispy and warm, the auntie put in some coleslaw and sweet sauce with the black pepper beef, bagus! haha..

this is another famous stall at Shihlin. everyone were queuing up for it! as you can see, it's called "Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang" (small sausage wrapped in big sausage) haha.. don't the taiwanese just love to wrap things up? we saw the Da Chang which is white in colour, so i thot it would be the German Bratwurst Sausage or sth.. turned out that it's actually glutinous rice! haha.. and the small sausage is just the taiwanese sausage we eat in Singapore with little bits of "la4 chang2" (cured meat) we also drank bubble tea, but our hands were so full that we did not have a chance to take a picture of that.. the bubble tea is Taipei is cheap and good! they have two sizes of pearls and they are fantastically chewy!! haha.. they have 700cc sizes, drink till we are so bloated!

next, we went to Dan4 Shui3 to eat and view the scenery.. the Yu Ren Ma Tou that we always heard about artistes performing there is at Dan Shui too.. but thanks to the bad weather, we couldn't do much! and i got really frustrated too.. my shoes were soaked through and through! haha.. we ate this two things at Dan Shui.. the one on the left is the Fishball, sth like Fuzhou fishballs that we have here, there is meat inside..

the one on the right called "Ah Gei" (ah give). It's actually sotong paste on the top, with Tau Pok skin.. initially, i thought it was just a plain Tau Pok, but when i opened it up, it's actually lots of Dong1 Fen3 packed in it! very yummy! the red sauce tastes like tomato sauce, complements the whole dish really well!

we ate this jap meal at Tonkatsu restaurant at Xi Men Ding. they have free flow of rice, salad and miso soup for their guests! it only costs NT$150 (around SGD$7) per set and we were so full!!! add on another NT$15 (SGD$0.75) and you get free flow of soft drinks! haha.. why are Jap food so cheap in Taiwan and Bangkok but so exp in Singapore? according to Stan's theory, it's becoz the nearer the place is to Japan, the cheaper the Jap food gets.. wad do you guys think? hahah..

i would say that this is our most posh meal in Taipei and it only costs us SGD$18 for both the set and the dessert! haha.. not bad.. but this restaurant's service isn't fab.. so i rate it really low.. stan loves the meat though.. they dun display all their dishes in the menu and you have to look at the display (like Azabu Sabo at Marina Sq) to find out what exactly do they have..

the worst came when they told us that we have to order one portion each.. becoz we have already eaten some snacks and we just wanted to try out their food.. in order to make it up to two portions, we just have to order the dessert.. second picture below.. pretty as it looks, not very nice.. the white thing isn't vanilla ice cream, in case you are wondering, it's just FATTENING whipped cream..

another one of our breakfasts! look at how they use plastic bags to wrap their plates and place the food on the plastic! so when one cust is done, they just have to throw away the plastic bag covering the plate and slip on a new one! they dun have to wash the plates at all! haha.. smart eh? lolx.. there are three dishes, carrot cake on the right, Dan (egg) Bing with pork chop at the top and my Dan Bing with chicken at the bottom.. the Dan Bing tastes like scrambled on prata.. quite nice! the carrot cake was very crispy!

we went to buy takeaway one morning at this Gu Gu Gu Cafe.. haha.. they serve brilliant and aromatic coffee! haha.. even the packagin is so nice!

this is spaghetti with egg and pork chop.. taiwanese love pork chop..

this is another night market that we went to.. stan is holding the famous drink in his hand.. it's called "Ai4 Yu4 Bing1" (Love Jade Ice). tastes like sea coconut to me, but stan doesn't like it.. haha..

there was a long queue for this "Tian Bu La", it's really sweet and not spicy! a bit too sweet for my liking as it irritates my throat.. stan loves it, but not me.. haha.. it's like our yong tau foo..

this was our first meal at Taipei after we touched down on Friday night.. haha.. it's at one of the cheaper jap restaurants.. yes yes, jap again.. that's what they have there mostly.. hahah.. this is stan's Ten Don.. so much fish and veg and prawns that he almost couldn't finish it!

this is one of the stuff that you can find at Takashimaya basement One.. but it's more unique here, they actually add Mochi into the filling, so it's very chewy and not very sweet.. nice!

finally, the pictures for the food is over! now onto the sightseeing part.. we wanted to go to the Mao Kong Gondola on Saturday morning.. we took the mrt and reach the place at around 9.15am. but the whole place was jammed up! full of uncles and aunties, parents bringing their kids, elderly squeezing into the building, waiting to get into the building.. it's cable car ride.. haha.. but so many ppl, how to get onto it? haha.. so we just took pictures with this Zhao Cai Mao, hopefully it will get us some Cai.. haha..
ok, this is just a random picture we took in the hotel before setting off for the day.. haha.. happy happy!! =D

you have probably heard of this on the news, the Toilet restaurant! hah.. it's cute.. but we din go in to eat coz it's quite exp.. haha.. save money for shopping! we just took some pictures.. but we did see that all the food are served in Toilet Bowls! haha.. quite cute.. and the names of the food are associated with shit, diarrhoea..

this is the night scene at Xi Men Ding.. quite happening.. haha.. the crowds start streaming in at around 3pm.. dunno where they come from, don't they need to work or sth? haha..

this is a picture of Xi Men Ding in the day.. the streets are so quiet.. haha.. it costs around SGD$10 plus to watch a movie in taiwan.. that's the info we gathered from the sales people there.. they are all very friendly!!

next up we saw this Gundam shop.. or rather, stan wanted to come here.. there are three huge displays of Gundam and we took pictures happily! hee.. haha.. very fun.. they are all so cute!

outside the shopping centre, there was this Fish Leong publicity event about her concert in Taipei! haha.. i was so excited to see her in person! pretty! her singin is fab too!

taipei 101! haha.. we paid NT$350 each to get up there.. so better take more pictures! haha.. the view is spectacular.. and they have this pendulum in the middle of the building to stabilise the whole thing when the wind blows.. coz the building is simply too tall.. haha..

there is this adorable Hello Kitty shop in Taipei! haha.. they sell cakes, and the sofa, plates, everything is hello kitty! but they were too pricey, so we just give it a miss.. haha.. see see look look will be sufficient le.. the cakes are cute, aren't they? hahah..

finally, i would like to end off this entry with a little note to stan. everything in taipei has been like a dream.. we din argue, we were happy.. we were blessed, lucky to have found each other.. i dunno why things can change when we are back in singapore.. i wanna find back that lost happiness.. i know i did make you angry once when we were in dan shui.. when you are angry, you dun say a word.. you just sit there and stone.. perhaps it's due to our different perceptions..
hope things will change for the better..
