Today Mic and I went to the Morton's Bar @ Oriental Hotel. There is a Martini Night from 5pm to 7pm every weekday and Martinis' are going for $11.95. I am not sure if that is considered cheap (the original price shown on the menu is $27) but the highlight of the deal is actually the free-flow of fillet mignon sandwiches! Haha Morton's is famous for their steaks so the fillets used in the sandwiches are supposed to be high quality. And they really turned out fantastically delicious!

This is stan here with my first post after a long time. This week is a long-awaited break for me before uni starts next week. Been doing nothing much, just catching up with frens and spending quality time with mic ( i love lolipops!). basically mic and i just lazed ard at my house, watching tv, taking naps, gng groceries-shopping together. later we be making chicken pies and gundams haha!
During these few days, we have both come to a conclusion tat attaining happiness can be very cheap and easy. It's not necessary to dine at posh restaurants or spend big bucks at the theatres or ktvs in order to feel happy. Happiness does not need to be bought, it can be as simple as just watching tv and eating free home-cooked or couple-of-bucks hawker meals. It just boils down to the company and mentality that one has. Not spending extravagantly is especially impt for students like us with limited income and we really have to watch where our money goes.. Anyway, mic and i visited the national museum on last fri night. Entry was free after 6pm (if not it will cost $10 per pax). we decided that we should act as we were culturistic and artistic while appreciating pieces of art.. like those ppl who stare at the paintings for long hrs as if they were deep in thought haha.. There were a couple of contest-winning paintings, a gallery featuring vintage family photos and another gallery featuring olden days hawker food.. The gigantic red naked man lol.. mic asks why his thing so puny.. Ice Kachang-making machine Satay Store! I love u Darling! thank u for all that u have done for me! |

"Asian men are generally not gentlemen."
This is something that i have come across this few days. it has always been happening around us everyday, just that we din get a chance to slow down and think it through. Let me illustrate my point. I was waiting at the bus stop yesterday at Bukit Panjang for bus service 184. When it finally arrives, there were many people queueing to board the bus. I was waiting patiently for my turn and suddenly, this guy (beside me) just cut in and went to board the bus before i got a chance to. I think he's in his early twenties (obviously, with a very ugly face). Don't you think he's ungentlemanly? Couldn't he just wait for his turn patiently? He's not the only one. Many times, you may have seen uncles squeezing ahead to get on the bus first. Some of them think that they are old, therefore they have the right to board the bus first. Well, if they are blind or handicapped, obviously i would let them go first. But some of them are even fitter than i am!! We all have equal rights to board the bus, i dun think you have any special right to board the bus before i do just because you are older than i am. Singaporean men are really ungentlemanly! it's just the kiasu spirit that lies within all of us. If you noticed, my title says " Asian men" and not "Singaporean men". I have just been to Taipei in May and i dun think that the men are any more gentlemanly than Singaporean men. Similarly, they just squeeze their way through. I am a supporter of the motion "Men and women should enjoy equal status in today's society." But that doesn't mean that men do not have to be ungentlemanly. the same goes when the young should give way to the pregnant or handicapped. On the other hand, i have seen some caucasians who are more gentlemanly. They always open the door for the ladies, give up their seats for others and allow people to go ahead of them when boarding the bus. There are always exceptions. i am sure that there are asian men who open the door for the ladies and caucasian men who are more kiasu than us. But generally, asian men really ought to learn from the caucasians. |
